REPRESENTATIVE CON BUNDE, VICE CHAIR, called the House Rules
Standing Committee to order at 4:37 p.m. Members present at the
call to order were Representative(s) Williams, Vezey, Phillips,
and Bunde. Members absent were Representative(s) Moses, MacLean,
 and Mackie.

VICE CHAIRMAN BUNDE stated there was a quorum present. He
announced the item proposed is the purchase of twenty-one (21)
MacIntosh 6100 computers and the proposal was open for
 discussion.

REPRESENTATIVE PHILLIPS moved the purchase of the twenty-one (21)
computers and offered discussion that the legislature is
currently behind on its computer capability and that it was time
to get rid of all the old computers.

VICE CHAIRMAN BUNDE asked for a briefing from the House Rules
 Committee Aide, Tim Benintendi.

TIM BENINTENDI, Aide to Representative Carl Moses, stated the
proposal is to purchase twenty-one (21) MacIntosh 6100/66
computers, complete with monitors, keyboards, and software. The
cost will be $2,275 each; $47,775 for the lot. These prices
 include delivery.

MR. BENINTENDI said the anticipated delivery time would be
approximately 4 - 6 weeks from point of order. Preparation and
installation would take at least a week longer. The software
package includes Microsoft Word 5.1, Excel, and Filemaker Pro.
This purchase will complete the Legislative Council objective of
placing one new piece of equipment in each office. The
twenty-one (21) computers will put us in a comfort zone at the
bare minimum. Eventually the SEs and Classics will be phased out
and every office will be able to access Folio and LAN.

VICE CHAIRMAN BUNDE stated for the record that Representative
Eileen MacLean had joined the meeting.

REPRESENTATIVE VEZEY asked whether or not the Legislative Council
had approved the purchase of the computers.

MR. BENINTENDI stated the intention of the Legislative Council
was to purchase sixty (60) new computers, one for each
legislative office. Senator Kelly had decided not to pursue this
action. The decision to purchase the additional computers was
based on an emergency basis. With the purchase of the additional
twenty-one (21) computers each office would be up to par.

VICE CHAIRMAN BUNDE stated for the record that Representative
Mackie joined the meeting at 4:42 p.m. He made a motion to
approve the purchase of the twenty-one (21) computers.

REPRESENTATIVE MACLEAN for the record stated her approval of the
purchase of new computers. She supports this proposal.

REPRESENTATIVE VEZEY asked to move the question.

Hearing no objections, VICE CHAIRMAN BUNDE so moved the
authorization of the purchase of twenty-one (21) computers.

 ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to come before the House Rules
Standing Committee, VICE CHAIR BUNDE adjourned the meeting at
 4:44 p.m.
